The PCYC BlueStar program provides leadership training and development pathways for young people (aged 15-19), involving participants in the decision making of PCYC and rewarding young people who continue to make contributions to their community.

At the heart of the nine month program are the values of fun and friendship championed by the Star values of citizenship, commitment, respect, resilience and integrity.

Piloted in 2005 with the generous support of Sydney Motorways Drive for Charity, this unique program involves participants completing the following components:

* Three camps focusing on PCYC Values, Leadership Training and Safety Training;

* Using the knowledge gained to plan and implement a Club-based project at their local PCYC

* Completion of a Certificate II in Community Recreation;

* The chance to complete the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award;

* Participation in a Franklin Covey 'Seven Habits for Highly Effective Teens' workshop; and

* Participation as members of the PCYC's State Youth Forum at the Annual Conference.

The PCYC BlueStar program gives young people the opportunity to make a fresh start and develop themselves as citizens and community leaders in a best practice youth development program.
