ABOUT PCYC
PCYC is about young people. We get young people active in life through a range of sporting, recreational and educational experiences. We help young people to develop their skills, character and leadership through programs that focus on values and community belonging. We assist in reducing crime by and against young people by providing positive interactions with Police, targeting local needs & building a sense of citizenship within the communities in which we work.
We have over 85,000 members and will grow the amount of clubs we have across the state in the next few years...
Getting Young People Active.
When young people are engaged in activities their self esteem is raised, their opportunity to make friends is increased and their sense of community belonging is cemented. PCYC provides a great range of activities to get involved in, from sports like basketball, futsal, wrestling, martial arts, or badminton to activities like dancing, band nights, music, digital photography, and more - there's something for everyone!
Developing Young Leaders.
Many of our programs and activities are designed around developing young peoples skills, honing qualities found in leaders great and small.
Most Clubs now have young people active in our Blue-Star youth development program, and on the Club Management Committee. Every year, two young people are elected from our Blue-Star program and appointed to serve on the PCYC Board. A further two young people are selected to represent PCYC and Australia at the One Young World Youth Summit.
Protecting Young People.
PCYC is a leading agency in the reduction & prevention of crime, by and against young people. When it comes to violence, young people are often a victim of crime rather than the offender. So teaching self-protection and building personal values & respect is so important.
Reducing crime is something we all care about. In PCYC, our Police Youth Programmers stay in touch with the needs of local young people. We're proud of our 75 year partnership with the NSW Police Force. Officers within the Youth Command at PCYC provide an invaluable community service in supporting young people to be the very best that they can.
