Once known as
the Police Boys Club, PCYC facilities today are
a centre for fun, fitness & friendship, where
young people can enjoy a wide range of sports, arts
and recreational activities, in a safe environment.
For young people
brought to our attention through the juvenille-justice
system, Courts, the local police (LAC) or schools,
PCYC police use a range of resources & specially
designed programs. These often involve other agencies
and professionals, to teach vital life skills like
how to deal with violence, anger management, sex,
health & relationships, drugs & alcohol
abuse, self-esteem, or assistance with training
& employment.
PCYC means less
truancy, less crime, and more young people feeling
better about themselves, and more confident and
socially capable.
There are 59
clubs throughout NSW, with 136 different types of
activity. With the support of public donations,
more than 1,400 kids from disadvantaged backgrounds
are given free membership each year.
PCYC is the largest
youth organisation in NSW, with over 54,000 members,
120 Police officers, 2,500 volunteers and 400 staff.
