Ju JItsu

Ju Jitsu at Burwood runs as part of Goshin Ju Jitsu Kan run by Sensei Gary Davis 5th Dan

Ju Jitsu is a highly practical and effective art of self-defence.

It can be classified as the art of defence without weapons against an attacker or group of attackers who may be armed or unarmed.

Ju Jitsu is an art that can be enjoyed by women, men and children of all ages.

The effectiveness of Ju Jitsu is proven when we realise that it is one of the oldest forms of Martial Arts and has been in existence for many hundreds of years.

The practicality of Ju Jitsu is reflected in the various techniques that are used which blend into a highly disciplined approach to this art of self-defence.

IN YIELDING IS STRENGTH Ju Jitsu is not an Art of Fighting - it is a true form of Self Defence

 About Ju Jitsu

As a classical fighting art of Japan, jujitsu can be defined as a method of close combat either unarmed or employing minor weapons that can be used in defensive or offensive ways, to subdue one or more unarmed or armed opponents.

A simple translation of the two Japanese characters is Ju: gentleness, suppleness, flexibility, yielding; and Jitsu: (sometimes spelt jutsu) art, technique, or skill. In more modern times since the late 1800s and early 1900s and with the introduction of jujitsu to the western world the focus shifted toward emphasising jujitsu as a gentle art, a system of self defence, and a system of physical education.
