Sutherland About Us

The Sutherland Shire PCYC is a partnership between the community and the NSW Police.

PCYC aims to encourage young people to be active in life. We offer a number of different programs to people in our community in the main areas of education, sport and recreation, culture, life skills and outreach work.

 History

In 1963 Senior Constable Ian Gibson and Councillor Maurie Keane discussed the possibility of establishing a Police-Citizens Club within the Shire.

A substantial donation from the Council and Sutherland United Services Club made the project a reality and in 1968 the building was commenced. Sutherland Shire Police and Community Youth Club was first opened on the 29th May 1969 by the Shire President, Councillor Arthur Gietselt.
