Parramatta Police Programs

Our dedicated Police Programmers have devised an array of programs aimed to assist Young Members and Youth at Risk in the Parramatta / Holroyd area.

At Parramatta PCYC we are also 'Duke of Edinburgh Awards' organisers.

Top Gun Program

Aimed at Young Members and Youth at Risk, Top Gun is a 13 week program introducing participants to careers in aviation.

Participants will learn to fly radio controlled aircraft coupled with attending Qantas and RAAF Richmond excursions.

Reach For The Stars

Aimed at boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 years. Participants will be introduced to a new sport each week over a 12 week period, with an aim of helping them find a sport they enjoy. Rugby League, Basketball and Olympic Stars will also attend to give motivational talks. We also have The Ted Noffs Foundation giving a talk on drugs & alcohol and High Street Youth Centre speaking on nutrition & healthy living. Course will end with a day camp at the Sydney Academy of Sport & Recreation with activities such as Abseiling, High Ropes Course, Canoeing, and many more. Contact club for commencement date.

Hot Shots Photography Program

Aimed at young men and women between the ages of 14 and 18, participants will be introduced to digital photography over a 12 week period. The course is run by a local experienced professional photographer and will cover digital photography and digital editing in Photoshop Elements.

Topics covered include Camera Handling, Photographic Principles, Lens Selection, Light, Composition, The Creative Process, Special Effects and Photographic Applications. Although, an emphasis will be placed on photography as a career, the course will also allow for those wanting to take up or improve on photography as a hobby.

Several weekend field trips planned, including practical photography outings, visits to local art galleries and TAFE colleges.

All Digital SLR cameras and equipment is supplied by PCYC and the best images will be displayed at a local exhibition. Contact the club for a commencement date and other details.

Changing Lanes

A 12 week program aimed at youth reaching a driver's licence age. The program incorporates skill development, driver safety, vehicle safety, understanding road rules and the effects of speed and drink driving.

Guest speakers include: Highway Patrol, RTA and NRMA. The program incorporates other fun and challenging activities such as Wheelchair Basketball and Go-Carting. Participants will also test theory learnt in class on Radio Controlled cars in our hall. They will experience the effects of different road surfaces, speed, under and over steering, simulated effects of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol with our special glasses, and peer pressure. Standing Tall Through Hoops!

Even wanted to play comp b/ball? Ever wanted to design your own team colours? With the dream of Alberto and the assistance of the club we are excited to offer our new club activity, Standing Tall Through Hoops! We have arranged for the team to play at Ryde Aquatic Centre in their Basketball Comp played on Wednesday nights. We need players to join the team, as the comp starting in a few weeks. Mid July!
